- Rivarossi was founded by Alessandro Rossi in Como at the end of 1945; the Rossi, young army officer Regio Esercito, who was an enthusiast of train models and Meccano products, after studying at the Polytechnics in Milan, managed to develop his hobby into actual professional activity. In 2000, the acquisition of the German brand Arnold and the French brand Jouef led to the birth of a new company, Lima S.p.A; five years later, the group became part of the British company Hornby; the curiosity, Meccano, which fascinated Rossi in childhood, invented Hornby.
